What makes the food physio different?

Here at The Food Physio™ we’re ideal to offer a truly comprehensive service because the combined knowledge of nutritional therapy and physiotherapy give us a unique background to fully understand your bodies nutritional and exercise needs. We aim to find out the causes of conditions and address them, to support your body to help itself.

We do this by examining your diet and lifestyle, and by looking at your body as a whole and not a set of individual parts.

Other common questions

Well, many reasons really, but simply, we want to meet you! Sometimes we use diagrams to explain things but mainly, we think you get better understanding when you can see each other and we are able to give you better support.

No! It will work together with any medical treatment that you are receiving and we are happy to liaise with any other healthcare professional to assist your overall care. Any dietary or supplement advice will be checked against any conditions you have, or medication you take, to ensure that there is no conflict. We would hope that with time you may not need a prescription medication, but that decision would always be made by your GP.

No, we cannot diagnose a condition, you need to see a GP. However, if you have any symptoms that we feel may suggest a particular problem we will ask you to see your GP to investigate further.

At no point is nutritional therapy intended as a replacement for medical care. You should always consult your GP for your health concerns.

The first thing you will receive is a questionnaire to fill in online and send back so we can get some background about your goals, any existing health issues and family illnesses. You will also receive web-link details so we can set up before the consultation time. During the consultation we’ll not only ask you a lot of questions but we’ll also feedback potential problems and explain why some symptoms could be happening, plus give you a tailor made plan to suit your health issues and goals. It’s a discussion, not a lecture so we agree together what will work for you, taking into consideration your lifestyle and circumstances. After we’ve finished, you’ll get all of your information emailed through to you, your dietary suggestions and recipes to get you started.

There are many tests that may or may not be suitable. Anything appropriate for you will be discussed at your appointment or, please call in advance if you have queries about these. Tests available include food intolerance tests, hair mineral analysis, digestive stool analysis, vitamin D testing and adrenal stress tests.

Yes, we are all approved members of BANT. The British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy is the professional body for Registered Nutritional Therapists. Its primary function is to assist its members in attaining the highest standards of integrity, knowledge, competence and professional practice, in order to protect the client’s interests, nutritional therapy and the Registered Nutritional Therapist. BANT-member Registered Nutritional Therapists are regulated by the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). By choosing Registered Nutritional Therapists registered with the CNHC you can be confident that they are properly trained, qualified and insured, and that they abide by the CNHC’s Code of Conduct.

CNHC was set up with government support to protect the public by providing a UK voluntary register of complementary therapists. CNHC's register has been approved as an Accredited Register by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care.
